About This Blog

My name is John Schwendinger, and I joined Reliv as an Independent Distributor in February of 2010, the day after my 23rd birthday.

For the last year, I've truly been in a rut.  My biggest problem is that I have a lot of very big dreams, yet I don't have either the time, the experience, or the money necessary to pursue them, yet, so the progress is slow and it's driving me crazy.  Among other things, I want to own my own theatre.  As a shorter-term goal, I'm trying to create a performing group to tour elementary schools with educational musical shows for assemblies and such.  It costs money and time, and I'm not going to see any return on investment for quite some time.

At the same time, I'm going to school full time, double majoring in Business and Theatre, since I do want to go into the theatre business, after all.  This, also, is costing me my time and money, and the real return on that in investment is not going to manifest itself for a few more years, at the earliest.

I'm also living at home with my mom and my grandparents, and my mom and I are sharing the task of taking care of my grandfather, who has Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, and dementia, and cannot move around on his own very well.  As a result of this, I am spending as much of my free time as I can staying at home and helping him, making it impossible for me to get a traditional job.  Any time I do need to leave the house, when my mom can't be there, it costs us about $20 an hour to have someone else come in and basically babysit for us.  So again, time and money are going out the window, and it's only being supported by my mom's income and my grandparent's social security checks.

That's the situation I was in when my friend approached me about Reliv.  She was an independent distributor, herself, and was holding weekly meetings at her house for people who may be interested in becoming a part of the company, too.  I wasn't too sure about it, at first, but my mom talked me into going with her, to make sure she didn't sign up for anything that didn't feel right.  While selling nutritional supplements certainly doesn't have much to do with running a theatre business, it would certainly give me a chance to stretch my marketing, selling, and personal relationship building techniques, as well as provide me with a source of income I would never have been able to get otherwise.  I signed up to be a distributor that night.

This blog came to life in early March of 2010, as I began to realize that I was climbing rather quickly, and it wouldn't take that much more effort for me to become a Master Affiliate (which has the highest profit / discount level, and opens up new opportunities for earning more sources of income through the company).  I've even seen how easy it is to attain even higher levels.

Every meeting I've been to has been filled with people telling their stories about how Reliv has changed their lives, and I realized that someday, I'll be asked to share my story.

This blog is my story.
